Cataula Camp Meetings were a mecca for all the Columbus area. The Press was always ready for notices and reports. An interesting appeal was printed in 1881. "The tent holders moved to the Camp Ground Friday; opening sermon was by Rev. J. W. Domingos. Saturday Rev. Y. F. Tigner and Rev. E. H. McGehee preached.... Rev. Mr. Payne, agent or superintendent of the Orphans Home of the Southern Georgia Conference, and Rev. W. C. Lovett were present.

"Sunday Rev. S. D. Clement and Dr. J. W. Hinton gave the sermons. Later, Squire A. J. Burt made a short speech in behalf of the tent holders who paid three full subscriptions." 90
